We’re happy to answer any questions you might have, with no commitment to proceed with treatment.
We first met Hannah in 2017 when she was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis—a type of scoliosis that affects children between the ages of four and ten. At this stage, scoliosis is likely to progress, so early intervention is key.
An X-ray showed that Hannah’s spine had a 18-degree curve (Cobb angle). Generally, a curve of this size doesn’t require bracing, but Schroth physiotherapy is often recommended. Research shows that with the right exercises, small curves (under 25 degrees) can improve in young people within three to six months.
A Personalised Approach to Physiotherapy
Our Schroth physiotherapy programme isn’t like standard physiotherapy. It is tailored to each person’s unique spinal curve and works in three dimensions to target imbalances. Unlike symmetrical exercises, which aren’t always effective for scoliosis, Schroth therapy focuses on correcting posture in a way that matches the individual’s spine.
The success of any physiotherapy programme depends on commitment, and Hannah has been incredible in that regard. She followed her home exercise plan exactly as recommended, and her dedication has truly paid off.
An Amazing Result
When Hannah came in for a review this March, she proudly shared her latest X-ray results—her Cobb angle had reduced to just six degrees, which is barely significant! This is a fantastic result and shows just how effective Schroth therapy can be when done consistently.
What’s Next?
From here, Hannah just needs to stay fit and active, follow posture advice, and attend her free three-monthly physiotherapy reviews. Her parents will continue to monitor her progress, but thanks to her hard work, she’s in a great position moving forward.
