We’re happy to answer any questions you might have, with no commitment to proceed with treatment.
We are excited to announce that LOC is opening a new monthly clinic in the Gait Laboratory at the University of Salford, just a short distance from Manchester city centre. This new clinic will make it easier for families in the north to access our expert care and orthotic services.
What is the OSKAR Method?
The Optimal Segmental Kinematics Alignment approach to Rehabilitation (OSKAR) is a special treatment method we use to help children with lower limb neuromuscular conditions like cerebral palsy and spina bifida. It was created by Elaine Owen MBE MSc SRP MCSP, a respected physiotherapist who has spent her career helping children with disabilities.
Cerebral palsy can affect muscle tone, balance, motor skills, and posture. Each child’s experience will be different, depending on how severe their condition is. That’s why we take the time to assess each child individually.
How We Help Your Child
At LOC, we use the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), a framework that helps us look at each child’s unique needs. We’ll assess your child’s walking patterns in the Gait Laboratory, and from there, we can create a treatment plan that’s tailored specifically to them.
A Word from Sam Walmsley, Clinical Director
Sam Walmsley, LOC’s Clinical Director, shared, “We’re thrilled to offer this service in a location that’s more convenient for families in the north. After working closely with Elaine for many years, we’ve seen first-hand how much of a difference we can make in helping children reach their full potential.”
